Student Film Casting
At Actors Ink, we are pleased to support student filmmakers with casting their projects. While casting in the professional industry typically attracts a fee, we provide this service free of charge to help students gain experience and access skilled actors. This is a mutually beneficial process: actors gain the opportunity to perform on camera and build their show reels, in exchange for a copy of the finished film and permission to use extracts for their portfolio. Casting is a critical element of any production—just as important as lighting, sound, and editing. We work with multiple student films simultaneously, alongside professional projects, so to manage our workload efficiently, please provide the following information.
Steps for Casting Support
Step 1:
Complete the Short Film Producer Form and return it to Actors Ink along with your script. Ensure you have read, understood, and agreed to the “Usage / Contract” section of this document.
Step 2:
Actors Ink will either:
- Send suggested actor headshots, or
- Release the project to our graduate actors, allowing them to contact you directly.
Step 3:
If Actors Ink assists with auditions, actors will provide self-tape submissions based on your audition scripts for review by the director.
Step 4:
Notify Actors Ink of the actors chosen for each role in your project.
